Malibu Librarian Sighting

I know all you Fusioneers think I just live in sleepy little ol’ Huntsville, Alabama. But truth be told, we’re quite the hip and happening place, and we’re very accustomed to hob-knobbing with the elite.

Whether it’s Tom Hanks dropping off his kid at U.S. Space Camp or Kurt and Goldie showing up to watch their son Wyatt play hockey for UAH, a celebrity sighting hardly even draws a gasp of awe these days.

But a Malibu Librarian sighting? Well, now that’s a different story altogether:

I can assure you there’s nothing wrong with your eyes. That really is Harding alum and now Pepperdine’s own James Wiser, librarian extraordinare, standing outside Little Rosie’s Taqueria in Huntsville.

Although I wish could have met James under happier circumstances (his father is recovering from a heart attack at Huntsville Hospital), in keeping with the theme of redeeming even the most difficult of situations, we had lunch together and a great visit.

I also met the mysterious and illustrious “C” and James’ Mom as well. And thankfully, owing to the great staff at Huntsville Hospital and the prayers of so many, James’ Dad is recovering and has been moved from the CCU to his own room.

What’s that you say? Is that the same “Little Rosie’s” that was the locus of the worst E. coli outbreak in Alabama in over 20 years?

Uh, yes it is, but I didn’t tell James that–didn’t want to spoil his fajita chicken tacos, don’t ya know. But the fact of that matter is that even the health inspector eats there on a regular basis, and if that’s not a seal of approval, I don’t know what is.

Sometimes I wonder why I blog, and my visit with James yesterday reminded me of the answer: it’s about the relationships, stupid. And while most of those online friendships will most likely remain “virtual,” it’s nice to talk with a live body now and then too. We must have discussed just about everything under the sun and them some. I felt as if I had known James for years.

Now if I can just track down that JRB. Good grief, he only lives 3 hours away in Montgomery, and James came all the way from Malibu…

Somebody needs to organize a blogging confab of some kind in a central location.

    I propose Nashville.

You do need to meet JRB.

I think that’s a great idea. I’m always looking for an excuse to trek up I-65 to the “Athens of the South.”

I hereby nominate you to be the Grand Poobah of proposed confab.

    WHAT? E.Coli? E.COLI?!?!?

Well, maybe that’s why the tacos were so good. Thanks again for showing me a round. It was great meeting you, too…and I’m in for the Nashville confab.

Next time we’re going to Soul Burger (click here).

Oh buddy, that looks like just the cure for someone who might be at a risk for coronary disease. 🙂

Actually, my mom, C, and my sister all ate again at Little Rosie’s tonight for dinner. They, too, love them some E.Coli!

Sunday, my friend. You’re living in some kind of serendipitous vortex of blogging reality.

    SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY!

    MONSTER TRUCK MANIA!

    Or coffee. Whatever you need.

    Please spare any unnecessary bacteria.

    Cheers.

@Malibu: You could do Soul Burger every now and then as long as you behave yourself most of the time. Besides, all the love that flows out of that place will more than offset the grease, baby!

@JRB: I was thinking more in terms of a nice rodeo or perhaps some professional wrestling. But since you’ll have the girls in tow, I’m willing to tone it down a bit. I’ll be in touch.
