GREG
so – what’s your pick for tomorrow’s game??
Mike the Eyeguy
What game?
Oh, that game. Bama in a close one, 17-14.
But you know those “stupid Bama fans” and their wild predictions…
GREG
I was going to say Arkansas 17-14, but they don’t have a kicker. So I’ll say Ark 14-10. I’m not sure why, they haven’t played well yet – but they usually seem to play well against Alabama.
People over here were predicting Arkansas to beat USC 41-10 and other similarly ridiculous scores. After hearing that, nobody’s fans appear less intelligent than Arkansas’.
Mike the Eyeguy
Bama does have a kicker–in fact, two pretty good ones. That’s why I went with the 17. But remember my complete and utter meltdown in the March Madness pool and take all my predictions with a grain of salt.
No, make that a salt lick.
GREG
I think I predicted 0 final four teams last spring. I also predicted LSU over AU and TN over Fla last weekend, so I’m not exactly on a hot streak…
JRB
Two words for you: “predatory pricing.”
That’s a good ground for a lawsuit against a near-monopoly pricing items below cost to run out competition.
Watch and wait.
Mike the Eyeguy
It’s funny, when I first posted this, it was just Wal-Mart, but now Target has joined the fray as well.
Does this mean the Democratic Party will go after Target too? 🙂
Jon
Hogs 21 – Bama 20 missed field goal as time expires.
JRB
This Vandy fan curses your name, Jon, for talking about missing field goals in the closing minutes of an Arkansas game. May your pigs run headlong into the sea.
JRB
This Democrat doesn’t begrudge Wal-Mart’s success, although every moral thinker must sometimes question its tactics.
Mike the Eyeguy
JRB–
I was hoping your man would make that for your sake. I heard your moan all the way up here in Huntsville.
Jon–
Not if Tiffin is kicking. He’s young, but it’s in his genes.
Mike the Eyeguy
JRB–
With your experience in representing Big Tobacco and Big Insurance, maybe Walmart could lure you away from academia should they need your services. 😉
Moral thinking–absolutely. But I sure do dig those “Falling Prices.”
JRB
Aye! There’s the rub.
Jon
‘the kick is up, it’s on it’s way, ITS GOOD ITS GOOD, VAN TIFFEN HAS JUST WON THE BALL GAME’ – maybe his kin was a hero but not this time…….WOOOOOOOO PIG SOOIE – RAZORBACKS. Been a hogs fan since Stoener put the ball on the ground and gave fat Phil a Nat’l Title. – Plus don’t have much to root for once you live in Searcy for 6 years
Mike the Eyeguy
Ah, talking a little trash on the Friday before Game Day–there’s nothing like it!
Man, I love this time of year…
GREG
ahhh.. the “Stoernover”, as it’s often referred to over here… 8 years later, I still can’t believe that happened.
Jon
i could forgive that if he had just hit the wide open tight end for an easy walk-in TD that would have given them the lead.
Mike the Eyeguy
That’s slop under the trough, boys. Let it go, let it go.
Mike the Eyeguy
Wow.
Tiffin? More like ‘iffin. As in: “‘Iffin Tiffin could kick, we would have won.”
Here’s a bold prediction for you: Christensen will kick next week.
That’s right, you heard it here first.
greg
okay, I’m glad they won and all… but I could not feel worse for Tiffen’s kid. You hate to see that from
greg
alright.. premature submit… the comment was supposed to end with “you hate to see that happen to anyone.”
greg
okay, if it happened to Auburn it wouldn’t be so bad…
Mike the Eyeguy
Fight on old Notre Dame!
Mike the Eyeguy
It did happen to Auburn last year v. LSU (5 FGs missed).
That kid recovered nicely and is on fire right now. Tiffen will be ok. Still, the commentator had a good point. How can Christensen be healthy enough to kick off but not FGs and PATs?
greg
that’s true… I almost forgot about Auburn-LSU last year. And it’s true… I didn’t feel nearly as bad for him. I’m not sure what that says about me, though…
Yeah, I thought that was a little odd. No doubt he’ll be doing both henceforth.
greg
I guess it’s too much to hope AU will forget where the end zone is in 2 weeks. I have a feeling they’ll spend a lot of time there…
Mike the Eyeguy
I thought Alabama played the better game today. John Parker Wilson gave every indication that he is “The Man” for the next 2 years.
Auburn is stronger than Alabama. I suspect that will manhandle the Hogs.
JRB
Houston Nutt met the Devil at the crossroads, and the for paltry sum of his soul received deliverance from field goal victories. Too bad.
Mike the Eyeguy
Good observation, JRB. The thought occurred to me as well, as I watched the bedeviled Tiffin flail away, that perhaps some dark compact had been struck in a sulpher and smoke-filled back room.
