I Am a Civilized Man (Mostly)
One year ago, I put on my first pair of no-line bifocals.
Forty-five years ago, I was born during Kennedy’s “Camelot.”
Like King Arthur, I must remind you that I am a civilized man.
With occasional lapses.

“It’s only a model.”
“Shh!!”
HBD, too. I’m not quite yet a 40-something, but will cross that bridge in April.
Nice picture. McClure (11 & 9) and Zoubek (17 & 7) apparently had a good games last night, along with Henderson & Nelson. UNCG wasn’t much, so I don’t know how impressive that is, but getting the young guys some confidence can’t be a bad thing. I know this – it’s nice to see balance again.

I watched the Faulkner Eagles, ranked 23 nationally in the NAIA, obliterate Brewton-Parker, a Baptist school in GA, last night in our first conference game. I was impressed with two things. (1) Faulkner plays a very fast brand of NAIA ball, especially on defense, much faster than I remember HU playing in the old days. (2) Watching Wimp Sanderson broadcast a Faulkner game for AM radio from Tine Davis Gym is a surreal experience.
You’re old.

Happy birthday, Blog-friend! I did this one a couple of months ago. It was tough at first (Ack! I’m now on the downhill slide to FIFTY!!!!) but now I’m kind of liking the freedom and the extra little kick to do things I haven’t yet done. Hope you and your family celebrate well. 🙂

Hey guys, thanks for stopping by and wishing me well and even razzing me (yes, JRB, I noticed that).
My birthday was spent strolling the campus at UA in Tuscaloosa on a cloudless, 60 degree fall day, with the faithful partisans on both sides of Alabama’s little internecine war descending on the Capstone for the Big Game. It was inspiring and made me feel young again, which was a good thing.
I plan to continue my 45th birthday celebration with a 10-mile run this morning and then hopefully witness a Bama win.
