The Gator Age

“I remember when I was telling people, ‘I’m going back to school,’ and they’re like, ‘Huh? What? Are you crazy?'” But you know what? I feel like now all of a sudden people understand that it’s more than money. It’s more than that…Money doesn’t always buy happiness.”

–Joakim Noah

Despite the goofy hair and the flailing chicken dance, I have to admit, he’s right.

I also have to admit that this is the best college basketball team that we’ve seen in quite a while. I almost hate to see the Gator Age end.

Almost.

They played well last night. I thought the refs would never call Oden for a foul. But at least it made for a good game, without him it would have been very ugly. I do agree this may be the best team for quite a while.

The quest for a national (or world) championship in any sport, college or pro, reminds me of a phrase from the movie ‘The Highlander’… “There can only be one.”

In sports, like it or not, sometimes it’s the same “one” two years in a row.

    Congrats to the Gator nation.

You are starting to see the light 🙂

They are a very good team. I would hesitate in placing them in the pantheon of great teams, Donovan’s prodding notwithstanding. They were, though, the best in their place and time.

why are you comments turned off on the Easter posts? these look like icons from the Russian Orthodox Church.

There are occasions when I like to let scripture speak for itself.

I think some of these are Orthodox, but not all.

My husband is Russian so I’ve seen several of these – that’s why I asked. As much as I was taught they (Russians) were anti-God, I’ve found that to be totally false. He was raised in the Orthodox (Russian) Church.

The next time I get a chance, I want to attend an Orthodox service. They’re a cappella, after all!
