Stars Fell on Alabama

“Stars Fell on Alabama” late Saturday night under the Tuscaloosa lights. Just in case you missed it the first time, here it is again. If you’re a Razorback fan, that one may not be safe for work.

Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer! And here’s a sight for sore eyes if there ever was one. Meanwhile, back at The Barn, the smell of smoke lingered in the air.

In Montgomery, the Faulkner Eagles made their home debut, and JRB was there, passing on his love of Southern Game Day Tradition to his young daughter. And by the way, congrats to the Montgomery Biscuits who came through in dramatic fashion.

Yeah, I’m strung out and exhausted after a long road trip, but Monday morning blues? Not on your life.

Roll Tide, Roll.

I dunno about that…I’m feelin’ pretty “Ugh” this Monday morning.

No doubt about it – a great game was played in Tuscaloosa. I am feeling like I felt back in the old days with Auburn… but I’ll hang in there – glory days will come again.

My favorite phrase right now….”It’s all good!”

mmlace–Buck up. Kentucky may be a little sticky, but it looks like y’all may have an opportunity to run off about six straight.

Terri–It’s early, anything can happen later on. But don’t you think it’s a good thing to have a little bit of balance restored to the universe? 🙂

Donna–There probably won’t be too many Monday mornings like this one–enjoy. Talk about your harmonic convergences.

It’s a good weekend when Vandy beats an SEC team in a blow-out, Mississippi State beats an SEC team (you know, ever) and I can watch a ball game with my daughter for $6 and a bag of M&M’s.

Vandy’s 10/6 matchup with Auburn is starting to look more and more appealing. Thanks to my parents’ kind birthday gift to me, my wife and I will be at that game, my first game on the Plains, and I think we might do well on our march to a bowl.

    Go ‘Dores!

Six dollars and a bag of M&Ms? I am so there!

Your story reminded my of a trip I made a few years ago up The Mountain to watch Sewanee play its homecoming game. What a delight! Cheap and very old school–I felt like I was in a 1930s movie. I especially enjoyed the memorial to the “Iron Men of 1899” who went undefeated knocking off UGA, GaTech, UT (both of them), Texas A&M, Tulane, LSU, Ole Miss, UNC and Auburn along the way (click here).

I think Vandy’s prospects are improving each day; Auburn’s, maybe not so much.

BTW, Amanda (aka The Jasper Jackhammer) was last sighted somewhere over Gulf Shores–and she was still climbing.

After so many games where Shula was not able to pull out a victory in the 4th, when that team from Bill Clinton’s state went ahead in the game, I got disgusted and took my psycho-puppy for a walk. When we returned, my wife was yelling, “Bama just won the game!” Watching the final 8 minutes on DVR while knowing the outcome was much easier on the old heart muscle … and I needed to do some walking w/ the dog.

You prophesied a victory … may you be blessed!

    Oh Yes!

    Roll Tide Roll!

Sl–I took a couple of breaks too during that 4th quarter “to get some fresh air.” But I was there for the final drive, and I reached down at one point and felt my heart about to leap out of my chest.

Jeff–Roll Tide rightbackatchya up there in Wolverine/Buckeye country. Hey, question for you: Let’s just say the improbable happens and UM wins the conference, beats TOSU and wins their bowl game. Will they let Carr stay or is he toast?

and Auburn and Tennessee losing . . . could it have been any better???

  12. Mike the Eyeguy

Maybe the SC Trojans losing to the Huskers would have topped it off more nicely, but hey, I ain’t complainin’!

As far as football goes, this was my DREAM weekend. I can say that because the Bisons didn’t actually play on the weekend…….they lost on Thursday night.

It may not be this year, or even next……….but Saban is going to get us back where Alabama fans EXPECT to be EVERY year, and that is in the hunt for the National Championship. It’s in our DNA.

Many more games like that one and I will be in the ICU unit at White County Hospital. I’ll be glad when McFadden gets drafted.
The opposing teams ought to get spotted a couple of touchdowns when they play him. Ok…….3! 🙂

    ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    DU

We’re done with DMac–thank goodness. I think what Saban did is pretty savvy–lowering expectations initially and then going out and exceeding them. Our defense still has some issues, but things are shaping up nicely. I thought that overall JPW did a great job after being “called out” by Saban the previous week.

DU, I may join you in that cardiac ICU before it’s done! Roll Tide!

    Mike —

Carr has got to go. That’s all there is to it. The game has passed him by, his staff is terrible, he never seems to have his team ready for big games, and he doesn’t seem to understand how important the Ohio State game is.

I predict at least 2 more losses this season (Wisconsin & OSU). I suspect they will also lose to Michigan State, and maybe even Penn State.

  16. Mike the Eyeguy

I figured as much. I was watching him during a recent press conference when he referred to himself as an “old man.” I thought, yikes, don’t add fuel to the fire! But then again, he probably knows he’s toast and will likely grow increasingly philosophical about it.
