Video Angst

Apparently it’s not just baseball managers who fret over stolen signals and suffer video angst. In the wake of the New England Patriot/Bill Belichick imbroglio over sideline videotaping, the Georgia Bulldogs have closed their football practices for the first time in seven years.

Why now, you ask? Well, as the Atlanta Journal and Constitution reports, Crimson Tide HC Nick Saban used to work as (are you ready for this?) the defensive coordinator for Bill Belichick during his Cleveland Browns days. And to top it off, Saban and the Dolphins were accused of stealing signals last year from none other than the New England Patriots (the NFL investigated and found the accusation to be baseless).

If that’s not rock-solid evidence of hanky-panky then frankly I wouldn’t know it if I rolled over one morning and found it sleeping next to me. Good for the Dawgs. I mean, we want this contest to be fair and square, right?

    For the record on espn.com, Mark Ritch said it was to focus on the game that now looms a lot bigger than it did a few weeks ago.

    Good grief, Mikes, maybe you should take it as a COMPLIMENT.

    From Ivan Maisel, a little more substance to suspicious relationships:

    “Georgia coach Mark Richt closed practice this week to prepare for Saban’s Crimson Tide. That raised an eyebrow in part because a former Saban assistant, Stacy Searels, now works for Richt.”

    To his credit, Ivan reports all the right responses from Saban in the story that follows.

    It sounds to me like Koach Richt wants to “focus” sews nobody else kan “focus,” iffen youknowwhattamean. It also sounds to me like he dun up and got hisself a might wurked up ova this upcomin’ game. He has.

    Three wins and evrabody dun started takin’ pot shots at St. Nick. It just ain’t fitten. We all knows he wouldn’t “Stoops” to no spyin.’ He don’t need to.

    Compliment means to praise.
    Complement means to complete or perfect something else.

    I have a handy tool to remember the different. Supplement means to add to the subject, while complement means to complete the subject. See? They both have e’s in the middle.
